No. It’s not a word most people like to hear because it immediately puts up walls and boundaries. If you ask any child under the age of five what word he hears the most, it’s probably “no”. Let’s take back some of the negative connotation of the word. No Shave November is the perfect cause to follow up October’s Breast Cancer Awareness. It’s a simple concept – embrace your hair and raise cancer awareness while raising funds to help in prevention, research and education.
No Shave November is not just for men. Women can participate as well. The rules are simple. Put down your razor for 30 days and donate your monthly hair-maintenance expenses to the cause. It’s easy to participate. Grow a beard or mustache, stop shaving your legs and skip your waxing appointment. If you simply can’t bear the thought of not shaving or waxing for a full month, support someone who is. The No Shave November website is set up to accept donations for others who have accepted the challenge and there’s a shop with some pretty cool gear for which all proceeds go to the cause. They’ve even added a new app which can be downloaded off their website directly to your phone.
Men, if you’ve been toying with the idea of a mustache, soul patch, goatee or full beard, here’s your excuse, er, chance to give it a try. If you don’t like it, shave it off come December 1st. You’ve lost nothing in the process.
It’s the ten year anniversary of the cause, let’s help make it the best year yet for them!
